Is this category seen as one or is it split into many countries and if so how do you find out about a particular country within ROW?

Its one single category(ROW). Otherwise the number won't add up
100/7 = ~15 countries :eek: , and there are well beyond 15 countries in the world(193 countries). I guess they will create a separate country category if that country runs over 7% limit set. otherwise those countries remain in ROW.

Actually, IMO, stocks is a loosers game. Many have tried it and have lost a "lot" of money(including myself). If you would like to make money through investments(i didn't say *stocks*), you should go with something like mutual funds and have a well diversified portfolio across different asset classes.
If you really want to get yourself into stock market investing, the best book(Holy Grail for people like Warren Buffet and many other Mutual Fund managers) to get started on is is The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham. There are tons of discussion forums like morningstar.com that has discussions about finance related topics. You could also get started with Mutual Funds for Dummies, Common Sense book on Investing by John Bogle, The Intelligent Asset Allocator by Bill Bernstein etc., There are tons of other ones, but this would get you started.
But, my 2 cents, have a long term goal, educate yourself on what investing(again, I didn't say stocks) is and get started. Investing is a marathon not a sprint.

However, don't you think that considering there are a lot of stocks that are at bargain prices (due to the downturn in the economy and not necessarily due to the company's performance), this would be the right time to buy and hold and build up the portfolio. I have same concerned. I have been waiting for too long to get my GC procee done. I can't live with current employer any longer. I am waiting for 1-485 to be filled. My PD is sept 03. Do you guys have any feeling if we can file it before this summer (like July)? Another concern is based on current situation with USCIS, it is about 8 month wait for I-485 to be processed. As you mentioned, it might be longer waiting time for this process since many people who had waited, will be filing. Please give me your feeling of feasibility date. Thanx.

I hope I interpret this correctly.
Only cases filed after April 1st will be going into Nebraska-texas centers for processing.
Which means, earlier cases that are already filed will be processed where they were filed...
I have no clue how they decide which case will stay in nebraska and which will be transfered to texas.
In my case, I-140 was sent to Nebraska on April 6th and when I received receipt notice 10 days later; first three letters showed that the case has been transfered to Texas, hence texas issued receipt number...and they will be processing the case..
Since you filed in vermont - you are fine, you will get it processed from vermont. If you filed concurrently with I-485 then that application too will be processed in vermont.

I need your help. I am currently under "adjustment of status" through employment but I have not received my green card yet. I already received EAD and advance parole last December/07. I left my studies at the college since then. I am not in F1 status anymore.
I have D/S on my I-94. I am wondering, what would I need to do if my F1 visa stamp expired on July 13/2000? I am planning to travel to my native country for the first time since I got here in 1999. I have remained in legal status during all this time by taking classes at the college. Do I need to get a visa stamp at the embassy back home?
Can I travel while my green card is pending? I�m just trying to make sure I�m doing the right thing here. I don�t want to make a mistake that will affect the outcome of my green card, not to mention my safe return to the U.S. Thanks in advance for your help.

I would always recommend choosing Career over GC. I am guessing you'll are a young couple. Most of us take risk of jumping jobs and carriers before we are married or before one starts a family. Believe me once you start a family and are raising kids all your drive to look for better prospect will start diminishing. You will be happy with you a 9 to 5 job.
So my 2 cents go for a better career now.
I understand it is a tough call but I am sure you will make a right one and whatever happens in future do not repent on your decision as future is unpredictable and one can only make decisions based on the current facts.

To answer your question the Priority date column is NULL ( i mean blank) for most of us in 485 Receipt Notice.
But the "Section : " is showing UNKNOWN for some of us and showing something else for others...
I'm wondering if that could be an issue - shall we call USCIS to fix this ?

Now I am working for a company in OPT .
My OPT start at 7/10/2006
My OPT end at 7/9/2007
add 60 days Grace period ,so the date will be 9/7/2007
So 9/7/2007 till 10/1/2007 will have 24 days GAP.
How can I do to solve it ?
You can not work after 7/9/2007.
The end of the OPT will determine when you must stop working.
The 60 days grace period is only for you to take care of business before you go back home. In your case you must wait for 2 months and 24 days before returning to work otherwise you will be in violation of your status.

Lawyer screwed up and didnt file in February 07 with the I 140. Below is what I got back from TSC re: cross charge- I had to jump through the hoops for them to consider it. There are some good and informative posts on .
"Today I received an email from my lawyers office who had requested a congressional inquiry with TSC. Good news is that my congresswoman's office is really efficient - they followed up till they got the confirmation. Now atleast I know they will consider it as CC.
Below is what TSC wrote back. Now the wait for visa bulletins and processing dates resumes!
"The message was sent to management. Yes they can be charge cross chargeability. However, at this time the files can not be request due to the large volume of work the unit has. Cases are process accordingly and chronological.
Will sent another message to management, but this request in expediting these cases does not meet the service criteria.
Thank you for your inquiry and please do not hesitate to contact us again if you have further questions regarding this case.

4. If i speak to my congressmans office, should i inform my attorney? I hope the letters sent by the congressmans office do not undo any work my attorney might have done.
