Hi All,
Me and my wife got our physical cards today. Buit the issue is my wife last name hasnt not been changed to my last name. It is still her maiden name. We have requested them while filing for I-485 with our marriage certificate.
We can still live with this but there SSn, Passport everything has been changed to my last name already. even has EAD card had my last name.
Any sugguestion as wat can be done. We r afraid were gettin our green card happiness will take a while now.

It already does, if you have an approved I-140 based on your LC.
Not really..before PERM LC tooks 4-5 years and a lot of people got laid off at the end of 4th 5th year and lost everything...Years of exp is best. based on Intial LC is good too....Ultimately anyone with a masters + 2-3 yrs exp or bachelors with 4-5 yrs exp should not have to wait in queue. Their priority dates should be current...I still support the whole Company GC and not just a points based system

I am also frustated with GC process. It is literally controlling my life...
I don't want to go India because not sure whether I would get Visa or not. I don't want to join some prime vendor company because not sure whether they would start GC process immediately or not, and vendor could terminate the job immediately after contract expiration or any other issue. As everyone knows that desi employers are blood suckers and on top of it H1B extensions are very tough to get with them. I was almost on edge of leaving the country on my last extension.
With desi employer, It looks to me that my career goal is only GC. I don't know when I get that and I am sure that my goals will be none after getting GC because I would be exhausted by then....

Finally we have decided to go back to India for good. I filed my EB3 in May 2003. Its going to be another 4 years to get the green card. When I went to India for vacation last December, we liked it over there & the economy is booming. There are all sorts of discussion regarding the Economic Gap/Politics/Corruption/Cleanliness. But we like it over there. Finally I will have an option to do something interesting. In US I was very much dependent on my monthly pay check and afraid to take even the slightest risk. I am also scared to use the AC21(Hey, thats the way I am). I am working with the same company for last 10 years, kinda stagnant in the last 4 years. In India, there are lots of choices, either to work for a sw company or start some business on my own. I think I will take the business route.
May be I can go there, earn well, send my son to US for college, do green card through him & come retire in US!!!

Good decision. I was opposed to going back but I think its good to do just that. You see lot of folks going back after getting their citizenship.

Is it a mandatory process to do a walk in for ADIT processing or is it ok to wait for a while to receive the physical Green card? Again thanks in advance for your valuable replies

1) If the dates have retrogessed to 01/2000, that means that there are atleast some cases of 2000 that have now been cleared for processing and will be dealt with first before the rest.
2) It also means that there are sufficient numbers of these to have caused this problem. The numbers might be sufficient to use up all of this years allocation?
3) once these severely backlogged cases are cleared may be we can see some forward movment?
Either way this certainly adds a couple of years to the already 4+ years of average wait. Without much exact information from the USCIS we can do nothing other than start the next prediction:D
For sure legal alternatives wont help. the country cap is to ensure equal opportunity for smaller countries which dont have enough infrastructure as large countries such as India/china. We cannot expect the country cap to be removed.

It is beyond my comprehension why should we scared of initiating a litigation against the US government when it is clearly involved in blatant discrimination. The HSMP rules were challenged successfully by Indian high skilled workers in UK, why can't we do the same over here? I pledge to donate USD 200 for a lawsuit if such an action is initiated.

These words are not trivial. I have personally witnessed and believe an immense power hidden in these words. I with everybody else in this forum really, really want the miracle to happen with you that cures you completely and brings you back to your normal life.
This is my first post in this forum. Until today I was a bystander on the fence never actually got inspired enough to fight for a cause as trivial as getting a green card. But today I broke the fence and came in. Because never before in my life I have seen such a real courage in a real person. I salute you and wish I can be as courageous as you when life will demand from me.
Just want to let you know that somebody somewhere dropped a few tears for you and will continue to pray to the power above for your speedy recovery and well being.

My vote goes for DC on 7/14. Many people like me might have already used their time off recently to get a medical exam and paperwork for I-485. I live in Baltimore area and simply cannot make it to DC on a weekday. If I lose my job I won't get a green card - as simple as that.
If there are others in Baltimore area who would like to join the action please don't hesitate to contact me. We could car pool and get together to make signs. I'll also try to gather some friends, although it might be tough on a short notice - almost everyone is on vacation.

Hi - I currently have my H1B(H4 for my wife) valid till Mar 2011 and EAD expires on 10/15/08.
Can I skip the renewal process for now and apply for EAD later?
My lawyer says it is OK to skip for now and apply for EAD/AP anytime as long as I-485 is pending.
Please advise.

I am a Jul 23rd I-485 filer. Just called USCIS second time (first time no success), went thru their menu and was lucky to get a great Cust Service Rep.
She asked me the I-485 receipt #s, address, primary contact #, DOB, and Zip Code for self and spouse.
She generated a SR for us together and gave us a Conf # for FP notice. She said that you should receive a FP appt notice in next 30 days.
So I guess, perseverance does pay off :)
Hopefully we can get this FP out of the way soon enough.
FYI I am a Bay Area resident.
